Symptoms:

When a transfer process is aborted before the transfer is compete, the number of records written to the destination is arbitrary and will depend on the stage the transfer process was in before it was aborted. In other words, neither will the records be rolled back, nor will a fixed number of records get transferred to the destination. In addition, there will be no cleanup process that restores the destination to its original state.

Resolution:

The solution to this issue is only applicable in the case of database transfers. During transfers to the database, if you select "Use Transactions" in the database writer options, the records will rollback when the transfer is aborted.
